In the school summer break, 10 A-level students from across London accompanied the STEM Ambassador Hub team for an inspiring insight visit to Just Eat’s offices near St. Paul’s Cathedral.
The visit was hosted by some of Just Eat’s STEM Ambassadors who work in variety of roles across the organisation. The Ambassadors volunteered their time to provide an insightful 90-minute session that included them telling us all about their current roles and the different career journeys that led them to where they are now. The students also participated in an interactive activity that helped deepen their knowledge of the various job opportunities and pathways available at a global tech company. There were lots of opportunities for students to ask questions and get advice from the Ambassadors, and they also got to experience the working environment in a tour of the office.
The event was very well received by all the students. It helped bring the world of work to life and challenge certain stereotypes around jobs in the tech industry.
“The visit…gave me clarity that you are able to go into multiple fields of work, and [it also gave me some] insight into jobs I haven’t heard much about’
‘I found it useful to learn that you can end up in a different job that is unrelated to your degree. That you can switch careers easily. That university is not the only route to land a corporate job.’
