How Researchers Can Support Primary Schools

If you are working as a researcher we’d love to support you to work with primary schools. The London STEM Ambassadors Partners have a new project called ‘Research a Researcher’ where we can provide you with a ready-made session for you to learn and use with classes of Year 3 and Year 4 students (7-9 year olds).

There is a part of the Primary Curriculum for schools which is called ‘Working Scientifically’. In this the students need to learn about scientific processes and skills including asking questions, recording information, making observations etc. The session we have written aims to help children to use these skills whilst understanding that these are the same skills that Researchers use to do their jobs.

Many children believe that scientists or researchers have skills that they can never gain – hopefully this session shows them that they are already learning these skills and could be a researcher in the future.
